Koichiro Shiba is an assistant professor of epidemiology at Boston University School of Public Health, where he applies rigorous causal inference methods to study social determinants of health and wellbeing. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and an M.P.H. from the University of Tokyo. His research investigates how traumatic events, social relationships, and positive psychological factors shape population health, with a particular focus on older adults in Japan and cross-national flourishing patterns.
