Mwenda Ntarangwi is Vice Chancellor of United States International University – Africa (USIU-Africa) in Nairobi, the first Kenyan to hold that position. A cultural anthropologist by training, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has spent over three decades in higher education in Africa and the United States. His scholarship focuses on youth, popular culture, African Christianity, hip-hop, and gender, and he previously served as CEO of Kenya's Commission for University Education from 2017 to 2022.
