John F. Helliwell is Professor Emeritus in the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia and a Distinguished Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. He is one of the world's leading researchers on subjective wellbeing, social capital, and happiness economics, and has co-edited all editions of the World Happiness Report. His research examines how social factors and institutions shape quality of life, drawing on data from subjective wellbeing surveys across many countries.
